Health Reform

Health reform is confusing. We’ll break it down for you.

As the Affordable Care Act continues to impact how health care is delivered, physicians and administrators at VCU Health need to stay abreast of what reform means for operations, providers and patients. The Office of Health Innovation serves as the academic medical center’s central translator of complex policy.

OHI team members interpret, distill and communicate federal and state legislation and regulations to stakeholders within the health system so that our leaders can focus on providing excellent patient care - rather than worrying about the fine print of complicated laws.

OHI’s educational efforts extend beyond the health system to community partners, professional groups, and consumers, along with new initiatives to reach individuals who are gaining access to health insurance for the first time.

By joining with community organizations to host educational seminars, our goal is to teach the average person what he or she needs to do to take advantage of the opportunities that health reform has made available.
